In the 2018 NBA Draft, Trae Young was selected by the Dallas Mavericks with the 5th overall pick in the first round, and then traded to the Atlanta Hawks (in exchange for Luka Dončić). Trae Young was selected to the NBA All-Rookie First Team in the 2018-19 season and has been selected to the All-NBA Third Team in the 2021-22 season. He has been selected to the NBA All-Star team three times in his career.

In the 2023-24 season, Trae Young played in 54 regular-season games, averaging 36 minutes and scoring 25.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 10.8 assists, and 1.3 steals per game. His shooting percentages were 43% from the field, 37.3% from three-point range, and 85.5% from the free-throw line.
